Indesign Recreating Posters

In this session we recreated existing posters using the software Adobe Indesign. The point of this excercise was an introduction to Indesign and its basic tools.

                Poster 1                                                                      My Version

This was my first time using Indesign and I am very happy with this attempt to recreate an existing poster. From the images it is evident that they are not absolutely identical and this was because I ran into some slight problems with positioning of the text and shapes, it seemed as though I had a bigger area on the page compared to the original poster. However overall I feel that this first poster was a huge success.

              Poster 2                                                                         My Version

This attempt of recreating a poster was a success in most areas. Visibly I didn't include the text of the poster, again this was because I ran into the problem of space and I made the poster overall too big for my page. Also some of the shapes are not close to identical as the original poster but I had a good attempt to recreate them. The parallelogram eventually became a parallelogram from a rectangle when I got the hang of it but copying the scale I struggled with. The black arch ways I really struggled with, I knew where to begin to get the line to bend but when it came to creating its final image I couldn't control the drawing of the bend. The final shape I struggled with was the wiggly line, I figured out how to bend the lines but again couldn't control it to create the final shape. Besides that I am happy overall with my attempt as it looks very similar.

I am confident with using the basics of Indesign and I have learnt how to place text, how to create shapes, how to manipulate those shapes and how to create a background with a gradient of colours.

In the future I feel I will use Indesign to experiment with different styles of typography for my projects and use it to create various posters.
